Julia Fiona Roberts is the daughter of Betty Lou Bredemus, and Walter Grady Roberts. She was born on 28 October 1967 in Atlanta. Julia Fona Roberts is the 4th generation Roberts who reside in Atlanta. Her father was interested in theatre from a very young age. He acted on his Emory University campus in 1952 and also in a variety of productions around Atlanta. In 1953, he joined the Air Force and while stationed at Biloxi in Mississippi, he appeared in a play that he performed in with Betty Lou Bredemus. In 1955, the couple got married and, in 1956, their son Eric Anthony was born. Walter was studying at Tulane University, New Orleans Louisiana. In 1957, the couple quit the Air Force and Walter began studying at Tulane. Walter was recruited as a technician by Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio to be a part of the production team for Bum Bum and His Buddies. The show was filmed in Decatur Georgia. Walter along with Betty Lou started production in 1964 on the children's local Saturday morning TV show Bum Bum and His Buddies and their Buddies, which they both funded. In 1964, Betty Lou and Walter founded their own organization called the Actors and Writers Workshop. It ran for six years. They had Lelisa Billingsley (also known as Lisa) as well as Julia (also also known as Julie) at the time.
