Her debut single, Here in 2015 at the age of 19. The song was widely acclaimed by both critics and the public. The song peaked at number 19 on both the Canadian Hot 100 as well as Billboard Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone named it as one of the top songs of 2015. Her debut Know It All album in the year that followed. The third track, Scars to Your Beautiful was one of five tracks that made it to the top spots on Billboard which included Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 in addition to Billboard Hot 100. The song was particularly memorable since based on her interview with rapper Rap-Up, many of the listeners were inspired by her story of doubting herself and learning how to accept herself. Cara's songs often include positive message about mental health, and how important it is to love yourself. The music she sings is reflective of her own struggles with insomnia and mental health. Reuters stated that she calls the album "half tumultuous, half perfected". She describes her growth through therapy and she encourages others to seek help when they need it. Alessia Cara has been a Canadian artist since the year 1996. Her parents are of Italian descent. Her parents purchased her a brand new guitar, which she used to develop her passion for the music. She began covering the songs she loved at 13 to prove to the world she had the skills and the courage necessary to be a singer. Indeed one of the covers Sweater Weather ended up getting noticed by a record label named EP Entertainment which allowed her to write and create the tracks.
